Since 2015, when Chinese wineries first participated in the Le Grand Tasting Paris wine exhibition organized by Bettane & Desseauve at the Louvre in Paris, Chinese wines have undergone a solid and brilliant ten-year journey, culminating in 2025 with a dual presentation featuring both the "Comprehensive Exhibition Group" and the "Ningxia Exhibition Group."

From November 28 to 29, 2025, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of Bettane & Desseauve, this industry grand event brought together nearly 400 exhibitors from almost 30 countries, showcasing over 2,000 wines and hosting 35 top masterclasses, attracting more than 15,000 professionals and seasoned enthusiasts, further establishing its status as a global wine trendsetter.

At the exhibition, the Chinese exhibition group confidently stood in the spotlight of the international stage with an increasingly strong lineup and outstanding quality. This year, nine Ningxia wineries along with five wineries from other regions in China, gathered in Paris at the Louvre with their fine wines. They not only received orders but also showcased wines not yet available in France, generating significant interest among professionals.
The heads of Bettane & Desseauve noted in interviews with several Chinese and French media that this year's Chinese exhibition group was particularly eye-catching. Questions like, "Where do these grapes come from? What are the characteristics of the terroir?" became common among guests. Many participating wineries expressed that local French consumers exhibited an unexpectedly high level of understanding and willingness to purchase Chinese wines. The atmosphere was filled with warm exchanges: reporters from Xinhua News Agency, UNESCO officials, Louvre Chinese guides, and Chinese wine enthusiasts in France all paused at the Chinese booths to taste and discuss, making friends over wine.

Wine critics Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve also visited the Chinese booths, engaging in in-depth conversations with representatives from the wineries and expressing admiration for the continuously improving quality of Chinese wines. They savored each wine, discussing everything from aroma structure to aging potential, and highly praised the terroir characteristics of the different regions. Bettane found the progress of Chinese wines impressive, while Desseauve pointed out that these wines are now ready for international top competitions. Both agreed that the Chinese regions are uniquely integrating into the global wine landscape, with immense potential for the future.

Ten years ago, we arrived in Paris with questions; ten years later, we return with answers. The fine wines nurtured by this eastern terroir are telling the story of Chinese grapes to the world with clear styles, solid techniques, and confident attitudes. 2025 is not the endpoint but the starting point for the next journey. Chinese wine continues to be on the road, growing, and eagerly awaiting the next meeting with the world.
At the 6th Bettane & Desseauve Wine of China (2025), the entire series of " Chateau Mihope, 1968 Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon" from Mihope performed outstandingly, setting a new record with a score of 97-98 points, the highest ever recorded for fine dry red wines in China.

Bettane & Desseauve was co-founded by renowned wine critics Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve, both of whom have served as editors of France's La Revue du vin de France (RVF) Wine Review. The organization has been established for twenty years and is regarded as one of the most influential wine appraisal units in France.
In June of this year, Bettane & Desseauve launched the 6th Chinese Wine Assessment, evaluating over 300 fine wines from 16 provinces in China in September, held in Beijing and Shangri-La. This tasting is the largest in its history and has broad representation.
