The WinemakingPhilosophy of Yuanshi

Yuanshi Vineyard embodies the Chinese philosophical principle of the “harmony between nature and humanity,” integrating the distinctive terroir of the Helan Mountains with meticulous craftsmanship. Winemaker / Team

Winemaker

Yang Weiming

Yang Weiming entered the wine industry unexpectedly, without formal winemaking training. In 2008, he joined Yuanshi Vineyard, where he has been the winemaker ever since. Over the years, he has remained committed to a philosophy of natural winemaking, minimizing human intervention and additives to enhance quality. His approach aims to create wines that authentically reflect the terroir of the Ningxia Helan Mountain’s East Foothill Wine Region while remaining approachable and suitable for everyday enjoyment.

Winery owner

Yuan Yuan

Yuan Yuan, daughter of Yuanshi Vineyard’s founder Yuan Hui, took over the vineyard’s operations in 2015 after graduating from Sun Yat-sen University with a degree in Tourism Management. Inheriting her father’s resilience and vision, she has worked tirelessly to build a vineyard with a distinct Chinese identity, crafting wines for local tastes and developing a culturally rooted wine tourism destination. By integrating her academic work with the vineyard’s development, she has championed the "wine and tourism" model while remaining committed to rural revitalization, creating employment opportunities for over 1,200 villagers in the surrounding areas. In 2024, she was honoured as one of Ningxia’s "Most Inspiring Women."
